The million-to-one shot came in. Hell froze over. A month of Sundays hit the calendar. That was Shirley Povich’s lead in the Washington Post the morning after Don Larsen’s perfect game in game 5 the 1956 World Series. Sleepless in Seattle, Raising Arizona, Padres Show Braves Who’s Their Daddy

The two things I was looking forward to in Seattle was enjoying a good cup of coffee and a sub-three hour game so we could get to our next stop, Phoenix, by first pitch. As for the coffee, we were running late so I had to settle for McDonald’s McCafe. As for the game, there was to be no quick getaway from Safeco Field as the Mariners and Rays played 13 innings, capped off by Mitch Haniger’s walk off homer at the 4:16 mark and Seattle outlasting Tampa Bay 4-3.
